Professor Hossam Fahem Abdel-Rahim, MD, FRCOG

Professor Hossam Fahem Abdel-Rahim is Professor and Head of the Department of
Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Al-Azhar University, Cairo. He holds an MD in Obstetrics and
Gynaecology from Al-Azhar University and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians
and Gynaecologists (FRCOG), London. He has served as the RCOG Fellows’ Representative
for Egypt since 2009.
He is Head of Education, Training & Accreditation at the African Federation of Fertility
Societies (AFFS) and serves on the AFFS Board. He is also a Board Member of the Egyptian
Fertility & Sterility Society (EFSS) and Clinical Director at Adam International Hospital, Cairo.
His national roles include President of the Professors’ Appointing Committee and Member
of the National Medical Licensing Exam Committee. Professor Abdel-Rahim trained in Egypt,
the UK, and Ireland, where he was Lecturer in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Royal
College of Surgeons in Ireland. He received the FIGO Award in 2000.
He is Co-Editor of the Egyptian Fertility & Sterility Journal and serves as a peer reviewer for
BJOG, Middle East Fertility Society Journal, and Al-Azhar International Medical Journal. He
has been an invited speaker at over 400 national and international conferences.
His primary clinical and research interest is Infertility and Assisted Reproductive Technology
(ART).
