Dr. Ibrahim Wada obtained MBBS in 1980 from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He is Fellow of both Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, UK (FRCOG) and West African College of Surgeons (FWACS). Dr. Wada was IVF Research Fellow at MFS BUPA Hospital and St Mary’s Hospital, Manchester from 1989 – 1992. He was appointed Consultant Gynaecologist at Bourn Hall Clinic, Cambridge in 1992, where he received valuable mentorship from Professor Bob Edwards, one of the pioneers of IVF. Bourn Hall was at the time, the Mecca for infertile couples. Back in Nigeria in 1994, Dr Wada has since achieved several successes in the field of IVF. These include the birth of Nisa Premier’s first IVF baby (Baby Hanatu) in 1998 and birth of sickle cell free baby to carrier parents through preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) in 2018. Dr. Wada is the lead trainer for the IVF and Infertility sub-specialization program of West African College of Surgeons. He was awarded the National honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON). He also currently holds the traditional title of Talban Jiwa, FCT and is a keen golfer.
