Dr. Derek Amoateng

Dr. Derek Amoateng is a Consultant in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of Ghana Medical Centre, Accra. He graduated from the University of Ghana Medical School in 2008 and completed residency in Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital. He is a Member of the West African College of Surgeons and the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons since 2016, and a Fellow in Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility from the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons since 2024, graduating as Best Fellow. He has 10+ years’ experience in Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART), managing infertility and reproductive endocrine disorders. His training includes a clinical attachment at the University of Michigan Center for Reproductive Medicine. He has led clinical units in fertility centers across Ghana and specializes in fertility preservation, including oocyte and testicular tissue cryopreservation. Dr. Amoateng is an Adjunct Lecturer and Examiner at Family Health University School of Medicine and holds an MPH in Health Policy, Planning and Management from the University of Ghana. He is active in clinical research and has presented at ASRM, ESHRE, WACS, and FERSOG meetings. He currently serves as Treasurer of the Fertility Society of Ghana (FERSOG).
