Emeritus Prof. Silke Dyer

Emeritus Prof. Silke Dyer (is the Director of ANARA, the African Network and Registry for Assisted Reproductive Technologies, and the Clinical Data Director of the International Committee for Monitoring Assisted Reproductive Techniques (ICMART). In 2024, she was conferred the prestigious title of Jakadiyar Kula Da Lafiyan Iyalan Kasar Jiwa (Ambassador of Family Health and Humanitarian Activities of Jiwa chiefdom) in recognition of outstanding contribution to Nigeria and other African countries for unwavering commitment towards a better health activity on the continent. Emeritus Prof. Silke Dyer retired from fulltime clinical practice at Groote Schuur Hospital, a level three referral centre in the public-academic health sector of South Africa, in October 2025 after having served as Head of the Division of Gynaecology, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and Deputy Head of Department. She also served on the Science and Technology Advisory Group, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Research, of the World Health Organization. She now continues her academic engagement as Emeritus Professor at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Cape Town. Her work is driven by the desire to improve infertility and fertility care in Africa and globally; and her research, regional activity, and international engagement are focussed on ART registries, equitable access to quality care, and sexual and reproductive health and rights. She has numerous publications and was recently part of the organizing committee of the 4th edition of the International Glossary on Infertility and Fertility care (2025).
